The time trial, the race of truth. This week, number 5 of the 2007 Low-Key Series, began in the warming air of San Gregorio, ending 14 miles later at the top of West Old La Honda road in perfect weather.
When the number crunching was done, surprise-surprise, it was Tim Clark of Red Dragon with a substantial lead in the male division. Mark Edwards of low-key powerhouse Bike Trip was second, finishing just ahead of third-pace Rupert Brauch of Webcor/Alto Velo on his time trial bike.
In the female division, last week's close-second place Janet Martinez of Friends of Janet prevailed, with second placing going to Margie Biddick of Bike Trip with Kelly Kasik of Apple in third.Less encumbered by his vehicle's considerable mass, and better able to take advantage of it's faired recumbent form on the flatlands west of Pescadero, Bill Bushnell distanced himself from the others this week, finishing in a smoking time of 34:56, an average speed of 24.0 mph (38.7 kph).
Establishing itself as the definitive leader in this year's team competition, Bike Trip was at the top of the points this week, while Webcor/Alto Velo produced an impressively strong showing to place second, with Friends of Janet number three for the week.
