Week 9 - Mt. Hamilton

And just like that, the finale has come and gone. Unfortunately, Lick Observatory was closed forcing us to use the alternate segment up to the gate. But on the bright side, conditions (on Thursday at least) were picture perfect! I saw so many happy looking cyclists out on the mountain. That descent is one of my favorites when it's not freezing cold!
I also noted that the median times were pretty fast! The women's median was 1:47 (vs 1:58 last year) and the men's median was 1:35 (vs. 1:40 last year). This means that for those near the top of the leaderboards, the scores were lower than I've seen in the last couple years.
Steph Hart pulled off a very fast time putting her on top for the women this week, but it was just shy of knocking Louise Thomas off the top step of the overall podium. Louise had the second fastest time of the week, but it was still her lowest score of the season and dropped off. The final overall battle was within half a point!
Heather Peck was the 3rd fastest this week for the women, but Kayla Regulski hung on to 3rd overall.
Andrew Ernst pulled away from the rest of the men to earn the top spot this week, and secured the overall. Will Gibb and Dan McGarry finished within a single second of each other in the battle for 2nd on the week. However, Chris Ritchie and Matin Massoudi put up fast enough times to keep their overall podium spots.
It was Alto Velo on top again for the teams. This week, Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club P/B Ben Dodge Realtor and Murder Hornets picked up the 2nd and 3rd spots. For the overall, however, WEDU NorCal / CVC was able to stay in 2nd, and pagemilling.com and their consistent participation was enough to earn them 3rd.
Congrats all! See you next year.
