Cover your head, not your ears...

Sorry, folks! Our insurance requires all riders wear helmets during the climb, and we follow the USA Cycling rule against ear buds or other head phones. Rock to tunes before the climb, perhaps, but we need riders to pay attention to what's happening during the climb...

Directions

Check-in will be in the Park & Ride at Sand Hill just west of 280, on Lawler Ranch Road just off of Sand Hill. This will be check-in only, no parking. Parking is available in bountiful abundance in Woodside, in Portola Valley, and in the Sharon Park shopping center off Sand Hill east of 280, among other places. Remember: OLH is a short, intense effort and it pays to have warm-up so you'll do better getting some riding in before the event.

From check-in we'll have small groups ride together to the base of the climb at OLH. Groups will be pre-assigned and available at check-in. You are always free to start with a later group, but not an earlier one. So if you flat on the ride to OLH don't panic. You can just pick up the next group.

All groups will meet and depart from the check-in location. So if you're not checked-off as departing from there with your group, your result won't count. So no swarming around the base of the climb or warming up on the climb. Think of it as a ride starting from check-in where the part to the base is neutralized. The ride from check-in to the base of the climb is an essential part of this Low-Key!

Note: RSVP ends Thursday night at 6 PM PST to allow time for small-group assignment. RSVP before then! No late sign-ups.

Volunteer!

Volunteers make Low-Key tick! Without them, we no longer function. Please sign up for any week in the series using our volunteer form! Thanks!!!

The Low-Key Way

Low-Key is all about a group of friends riding up a hill together. It's like any other informal group ride, except we time you to the top and report the results on our web site. But we have no road closures, no lead vehicle, no follow vehicle. We are traffic, sharing the roads with other traffic, following the laws and courtesy which applies to traffic. This includes riding to the right of the road when practicable, and not crossing double yellows to pass riders or to get through corners faster. We're each responsible for our own actions out there, on and off the bike, both as users of the road as as courteous visitors to the neighborhoods we pass through. "Ceci n'est pas un race".
